catching up.... hi blog
oh my, it's been a long time since i've updated!
i've been very busy at work. we had several projects dropped on us and a lot of the extra work is on me. but we've been getting some overtime, and that's nice... 'spectially since Cornerstone is in a couple of weeks and i could use the money.... so, let me do a fast update on some things that have been going on the past week and a half....
so, i watched the "creature comforts" show. it's pretty good. some of the stuff is pretty funny... speaking of tv, i found out this week that my mom is a big fan of Gene Simmons (of KISS) now. she's been watching his reality show and loves it. so i started recording it to check it out. i like it too. i happen to be a reality show fan anyway.... but i like his show, and his family. his son is very funny most of the time....
i did watch the finale of the Sopranos. i've seen every episode ever. i've watched that show since the first show, the first night it was on some 8 years ago. i loved it. i think it was a great show. i do think that being Italian-American gave me an extra bit of appreciation for it. you didn't have to be Italian to appreciate the show, it was superbly acted and written... but it was also full of inside jokes, characters, and locations that brought to mind my growing up Italian.... anyway, the last episode was great. i heard HBO and Mr. Chase got a lot of haters calling and writing in saying that they wanted more of a wrapped up ending. ha. Chase never cared to tie things up in a bow for anyone. and he was true to that to the end, good... in the final show, i wanted Phil to be killed, and he was - twice. and then by the end of the hour the Soprano family were pretty much back to "normal," having dinner together in a greasy diner. there's a lot of speculation about the ending, so i'll clear it up for you. Chase made the last few minutes of the show suspenseful, for sure! it was tense, but then typically, he does not satisfy the expectation. again, good. now about the guy at the counter, he's not a hit man. he's a creepy guy that's looking around the diner for someone to hit, but not in the "dead" way. he wants to hit someone up for money or food. he's not well kept, he's got some 20 year old 'members only' jacket on that he got at Goodwill, or a street mission... he is not a mafia hit man sent to kill Tony. no way. and the two black guys in the diner are also creepy, but they are not with the counter guy and they're not there to kill a Mafia Boss! ah, no.... Tony and the family ate dinner and went home. AJ was back to the materialism he almost left, and Meadow is also headed that way. she's talking about making 150 grand a year as a lawyer, but when she scrapes a car trying to park, she doesn't leave a note or care about the law.... each Soprano flirted with enlightenment in the final season, but fell short. it was too hard work.... they are who they are, and will continue to be...
i've been trying to reach Norman, no luck. i ordered our Cornerstone golf carts, so i'm hoping he doesn't try to back out this year! most years he does have trouble getting going, but i think it's good for him to get out with me and get away from his life for a while. i have a better time with him going to actually. i like that we take his van and a trailer, and i like working on the press tent and other projects with him. we usually do have a good week....
i haven't talked to Sarah in the last week or so. [she needs to get a phone so i can call her.] but she dropped by the house last night after i went to bed. so i didn't hear anything, but i found a Father's Day card on my computer table when i got up this morning. :-)
i've been really enjoying my ipod lately. i haven't been listening to the radio in the car at all. ipod all the way... sometimes i think it has ESP. how else does it know what i'm thinking? sometimes it plays a song that reminds me of another artist or song and it reads my mind and plays that artist or song! i often think, "wow, this is like listening to a great DJ." then i remember, it's my ipod so i'm the actual DJ. :-)
