oh my, it's been a long time since i've updated!
i've been very busy at work. we had several projects dropped on us and a lot of the extra work is on me. but we've been getting some overtime, and that's nice... 'spectially since Cornerstone is in a couple of weeks and i could use the money.... so, let me do a fast update on some things that have been going on the past week and a half....
so, i watched the "creature comforts" show. it's pretty good. some of the stuff is pretty funny... speaking of tv, i found out this week that my mom is a big fan of Gene Simmons (of KISS) now. she's been watching his reality show and loves it. so i started recording it to check it out. i like it too. i happen to be a reality show fan anyway.... but i like his show, and his family. his son is very funny most of the time....
i did watch the finale of the Sopranos. i've seen every episode ever. i've watched that show since the first show, the first night it was on some 8 years ago. i loved it. i think it was a great show. i do think that being Italian-American gave me an extra bit of appreciation for it. you didn't have to be Italian to appreciate the show, it was superbly acted and written... but it was also full of inside jokes, characters, and locations that brought to mind my growing up Italian.... anyway, the last episode was great. i heard HBO and Mr. Chase got a lot of haters calling and writing in saying that they wanted more of a wrapped up ending. ha. Chase never cared to tie things up in a bow for anyone. and he was true to that to the end, good... in the final show, i wanted Phil to be killed, and he was - twice. and then by the end of the hour the Soprano family were pretty much back to "normal," having dinner together in a greasy diner. there's a lot of speculation about the ending, so i'll clear it up for you. Chase made the last few minutes of the show suspenseful, for sure! it was tense, but then typically, he does not satisfy the expectation. again, good. now about the guy at the counter, he's not a hit man. he's a creepy guy that's looking around the diner for someone to hit, but not in the "dead" way. he wants to hit someone up for money or food. he's not well kept, he's got some 20 year old 'members only' jacket on that he got at Goodwill, or a street mission... he is not a mafia hit man sent to kill Tony. no way. and the two black guys in the diner are also creepy, but they are not with the counter guy and they're not there to kill a Mafia Boss! ah, no.... Tony and the family ate dinner and went home. AJ was back to the materialism he almost left, and Meadow is also headed that way. she's talking about making 150 grand a year as a lawyer, but when she scrapes a car trying to park, she doesn't leave a note or care about the law.... each Soprano flirted with enlightenment in the final season, but fell short. it was too hard work.... they are who they are, and will continue to be...
i've been trying to reach Norman, no luck. i ordered our Cornerstone golf carts, so i'm hoping he doesn't try to back out this year! most years he does have trouble getting going, but i think it's good for him to get out with me and get away from his life for a while. i have a better time with him going to actually. i like that we take his van and a trailer, and i like working on the press tent and other projects with him. we usually do have a good week....
i haven't talked to Sarah in the last week or so. [she needs to get a phone so i can call her.] but she dropped by the house last night after i went to bed. so i didn't hear anything, but i found a Father's Day card on my computer table when i got up this morning. :-)
i've been really enjoying my ipod lately. i haven't been listening to the radio in the car at all. ipod all the way... sometimes i think it has ESP. how else does it know what i'm thinking? sometimes it plays a song that reminds me of another artist or song and it reads my mind and plays that artist or song! i often think, "wow, this is like listening to a great DJ." then i remember, it's my ipod so i'm the actual DJ. :-)
Which band or artist which is no longer performing or alive would you have loved to have seen?

oh, i suppose a bunch of rocks greats from the 60s and 70s. the Beatles, Hendrix, Janis Joplin. i wish i'd seen the Velvet Underground, Genisis with Peter Gabriel (i have seen Peter after Genisis), Marc Bolan... i was in Puerto Rico from like 67 to 72, and so i didn't have much opportunity to see big artists during those years.... but since 72, when i moved to MD., i've seen just about everyone i could have seen...
then my musical focus changed around about 85. i bought my first Daniel Amos record, and got into Rez, Steve Taylor, Bloodgood, soooooo many little known non-mainstream [Christian] bands..... and i've seen all of them too......
... except i missed Keith Green, and Mark Heard's last show.... and i should have seen Mark. i should have seen his last show because i was at Cornerstone that year, my friend went, i don't even remember why i missed it, but i did. :-(
now i do still go to shows but not like i used to. it's too hard to go out during the week and then go to work...
poor old me. and i do mean old.... :-p
i'm disappointed in myself; i did not go to see the Lost Dogs last night.
i must be getting old. i can't take the late nights and days with no sleep any more. like i used to. yesterday i was torn as to going or not, but on the way home from work, i was so tired that i was falling asleep at the wheel. after i made it home i was pretty sure that if i didn't get enough sleep that night that i'd be nodding off big time today. and nodding off big time is not good when you're driving! i went to bed kinda late the night before and that's why i was so tired yesterday.... if the show had been a lot closer i probably would have gone anyway, but it wasn't... so anyways, the Dogs will be in my neighborhood, right down the street, in about two months. so i'll get in my golf cart that night and i won't worry about going to work the next day. it'll be great! gotta love Cornerstone!
i'm building a myspace that's just got Cornerstone 07 bands on it. so if you're interested in looking into Cornerstone bands that maybe you don't know much about, they're easy to find on our new myspace... it was Shari's idea so we're calling it the Phantom Tollbooth's music guide...
i haven't said anything to you for a while... well, i just haven't had anything to say lately i guess..... i think i'll just put some random streaming thoughts on here today....
we got snow today, so i'm still at work. we're getting off at 7, but i'm sure i'll be at least two hours to get home. :-(
i enjoyed seeing Sean, Laura, Eli, and Eva this last week end! i tried the kumbucha and thought it was good. and good for you, so i hear..... and we had some good pizza delivered. one was a spinach/artichoke pizza, yum. i had a good time with Eva. she was talkative and fun. :-)
i did order an external hard drive last week end. i went to Best Buy, but they didn't have it there so i just ordered it on line. along with new ink cartridges for my printer. 250 gig hd for 120 dollars. should be here this week then i'll see if i can get it all working this week end.
my sister, Jo, is engaged and getting married on a cruise next fall she is taking to Alaska. my brother in law, James, is still looking for a job. it's been quite a while that he's been out of work. i don't understand it. he's really pretty sharp. he should have a good job by now.... my other sister, Gina, bought a new car. a Saturn Vu, i think. she likes it. Sarah is looking for work too. well, actually i need to talk to her because she was supposed to go for an interview Monday, and i haven't hear whether she got that job or not..... my wife sent me a t-shirt this week. it says, "i voted for Cornerstone" on it. CCM magazine had a poll and Cornerstone was voted the best summer festival. i, of course, did not actually vote, but i'm going to wear the t-shirt anyway.... i'm also building a myspace with just Cornerstone '07 bands on it for easy quick reference for people looking into the bands that will be there this year.... i'm starving, i ate 2 small oranges for lunch. i was too lazy to go out and get lunch so i just ate what i had here for snack. i'm going to get a happy meal before i head home tonight.... and that's about it....
