fellowship and hanging out is what i'm all about. way before crafts and yard sales! :-)
here's more from the day:
i had a really good week end here in Thurmont. Colorfest was good. actually, i enjoyed Colorfest more than usual. we parked cars again and it was good to just hang out with the guys and talk. the weather was great. clear, lovely days. so we had a big turn out both days, thousands and thousands of folks... i also got to catch up with Thom and Susan Mize briefly. Susan called me Saturday night and told me that Daniel, their son, and his band were going to be playing the next day in someone's back yard. the yard was open to a main pathway at the memorial park and lots of people would be passing by. i love to check out local bands anyway, but i especially wanted to see Daniel play because i've known him and his family since he was little. so i arrived at the appointed place at the appointed time and got to talk to Thom and Susan a little before the band started up. Thom is not only the proud father, he's also kind of the sound man/roadie, it seems. he was busy helping the kids set up and get the sound right... the kids in the band, including Daniel, are 9th graders, so 15 or so i guess. and they were fun. they must listen to a lot of classic rock because they did several tunes from my decade. AC/DC, Jimi, Stones, Lynard Skynard, and some originals that were still in that vein. Daniel plays a flying V through a Marshall, and he can really play! and it seems so natural to him. he just plays anything he feels like, it seems. that was cool.
i also got to hang out with Sean and the family all week end. that was really good!
we went out to eat several times and hung out at Colorfest some. i had a great time with them! :-)
