i had a nice week end.
Friday i went home and did my laundry and cleaned the bathrooms in preparation for the queen of my heart to visit this week end. but that wasn't the nice part.....
:-)
the good part was Saturday and Sunday...... Saturday i went up to see Sean, Laura and the grandkids. we went out to lunch when i got there. i got something call "rattlesnake pasta" at Uno's. it was really good. cheesy pasta with chicken and peppers. i still have some in the frig to finish tonight when i get home... then we went bowling. Eli and Eva take bowling lessons during the week with other homeschoolers so they're pretty into it by now. and they both bowl pretty good. Eva even beat Eli one game. :-o and Sean, who hasn't been bowling a lot but has been listening to the instructor when the kids are there, bowled a big game. i think it was 160 or close. which is pretty good for non-bowlers like us.... Laura even got to bowl some. but every time she bowled she turned around with a look of pain on her face. when i said something about it, she said that she was having a contraction every time. i said, well stop it... but i want to have this baby, she said.... :-) so that was fun. then we went back to their house, had dinner and i played with the kids some 'til bed time and i headed home......
church was good on Sunday. interesting music and a passion play reading. and palms... and i hadn't been out with Stefan and Judi for a while so lunch with them was nice.....
so -- i'm already looking forward to this week end. Easter and Linda. Sah-weeet!!!
speaking of Birthdays.....
it's a big one for Sean tomorrow...
Happy 30th son!!
:-)
i had a lovely week end.
i drove up to Richland, PA. on Saturday to see the LaFianza's new place. as always, it was very nice to hang out with Sean, Laura, Eli, Eva, and little "on the way." they have a nice little town house now in a small town about 30 minutes north of Lancaster. while i was there Sean, Eli and i went to get water. natural spring water. from the spring. a neighborly guy who lives up on the top of one of the mountains near by has built a nice turn around drive way off of the roadway, with a running well and spigot in the middle of it. we filled up a bunch of gallon jugs and took them back home. i played with Eva for a while and then we headed down to Lancaster for dinner and some arcade play. that was a good day.
Sunday i went to church and it was All Saints Day. it was a good service with a lot packed in. hymns, sermon, lighting candles for loved ones that have gone home before us, communion.... i've also been going to a Sunday School class before church that i've been enjoying. Pastor Barbara is leading a discussion on "practices of faith." that includes just about everything, really. yesterday we talked about "food," and basically how we relate that to fellowship and honoring God and family with meals. next week's topic: stuff.
driving home with Stefan and Judi, Judi pointed out the colors in the trees up on the mountain. as i drive by the mountains on the way home from work, i kinda look over and see that's it's beautiful, but as Stefan was driving us home on Sunday i was able to look and really notice the fiery, vivid, extravagant colors in the trees this year. it is an especially gorgeous fall this year up in my part of the country. every color in the rainbow glows and blends like God took a giant paint brush and a palette full of piled up colors and made a master piece for Thurmont to enjoy. i was actually thinking that i don't remember a more beautiful fall then this one. and we have some beautiful falls.... so i was really enjoying the drive home from church on Sunday. :-) .... [while i'm kind of on the subject...Maryland is way underrated as a beautiful state. it's definitely top ten in beauty. awesome hills and mountains in the west. beaches on the ocean and bays towards the east. lovely country sides, and very cool cities like Baltimore, Annapolis, Frederick, Ocean City....and the sea food!...]
after church i got home and found Sarah at my door. she came to see me and hang out for a while that afternoon. we took care of some things at the house and on line for her and then went out to lunch at Wendy's. well, i took her out to lunch actually. since i had already eaten something at Proof, a great deli in Frederick, after church. she's doing fine. staying employed, paying her bills... both good things. :-)
after a few hours Sarah took off and went home. and i finished my week end with some local music. i drove back down to Frederick and saw some live music including Aneirin. it was a cd release show so i picked up their new ep; five pretty epic songs that i'll probably review for the Tollbooth soon. the boys put on a great show, as usual! i always have fun at their shows.
i got into bed around 10:30 ready for sleep after a pretty active, pleasant, and fulfilling week end.
fellowship and hanging out is what i'm all about. way before crafts and yard sales! :-)
here's more from the day:
the weather was very nice for an August week end. and i got a lot of riding in. i rode over toward Annapolis see Sean and Eli on Saturday after i washed and waxed the bike. we had a nice quiet time just sitting around. Laura was not feeling too well - (she can get pretty darn sick when she's in this condition.... right, pregnant!... i really hope this time is not as bad as has been in the past). and Eva was out with her Popi and Gami. i did get to see Eva for a couple of minutes as i was leaving though. Sean and i talked about his move and new job. he's planning on moving this week end up to Lancaster Co. and renting a townhouse. 10 minutes from his new job, and 10 from his new church. pretty sweet. and i saw some video of the new place and the new town. i think they'll like it up there and it's not too much further for me to drive to visit them on the week ends....
then on Sunday i went riding with Wayne after church. so i rode to church in the morning and i rode over to his place from Frederick. i got there a bit late but we had plenty of time to ride some before Wayne's granddaughter, Selena's, first birthday party. we rode up through PA and stopped in at Battlefield Harley to look around and grab a hot dog. then we headed back down to Thurmont and went to the park where the b-day party was... pizza, ice cream, and cake outside in the lovely day....
